Geisha needs a foot rub...

By the end of tonight I will have worked 37 shifts in the last 34 days.

By the end of this week I will have worked 42 shifts in 38 consecutive days.

I am looking forward to my 2 days off for the holidays.

My current job requires me to be on my feet nonstop - so all I want for Christmas this year...is a foot rub : )

Long vs Short?

So for the past few months I've been wrestling with the issue of whether to keep growing my toenails or keep them at a short-medium length.

PROS
There seems to be a large demand in the foot fetish community for women who have both nice feet AND long toenails (and of course, are also willing to put them on display). Perhaps it's a supply and demand thing like if you live in a community where women never show cleavage, the value of cleavage, when it's available, is increased. I imagine there are more women out there with short toenails than long, which makes the long-toenail thing a bit of a rarity.

Whatever the source of this demand, I don't mind sharing my long toenails with the world when I have them. I would love to please as many of my fans as I can, without having to sacrifice anything however...

CONS
There are several reasons why I am motivated to keep my toenails shorter:

a) My Lifestyle. I am a runner and I also have ingrown toenails on my big toes. Some days when I run, I feel a pinch of pain with every step. When my feet suffer, I suffer. Unhappy Feet = Unhappy Geisha.

b) Environment. I live in a colder climate where I can't wear open-toe shoes all year long.

c) Social norms. In social settings, having long toenails can be almost embarrassing when I catch people making rude comments about them being so long. Some people find long toenails rather disgusting and I can understand that. I've also accidentally cut people with these weapons of mine. Now that I think of it, I've even cut myself with my toenails!

d) Short-nail Fans. I have many fans who much prefer my nails at a shorter length. I personally, think my feet look better when my toenails are shorter. I don't really like the "claw" look and I don't think it matches my personality either.

KIA's TOENAIL RESOLUTION
So I have decided that I will maintain a short-medium toenail length for most of the year and maybe once a year (twice at the most) I will intentionally grow them longer. It takes 2-3 months to grow them to a relatively long length. During this Period of Nail Growth I will shoot as many photos, videos and custom requests as I can before I go back into Nail Hibernation : )

What is it that differentiates a beautiful foot from a not-so-pretty foot? They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but if you are like some of my more data-oriented foot fans you might prefer to 'size up' your favourite foot models by their specific measurements rather than rely on the subjective eye.

A recent inquiry from a foot fan prompted me to measure my feet and I discovered that my Right foot is slightly longer than my Left foot.

Here are my Foot Stats:

Shoe Size 8. Sometimes I can squeeze into a size 7 pump and once in a while I need an 8 1/2 running shoe...it all depends on the shoe maker and style. My feet are also on the wider side so I don’t fit into narrower shoe styles.

On a recent trip to the shoe store I noticed that my heels kept slipping out of the pumps that I tried on, even when I tried a abnormally small size 7 pump. I am just now, in my 30's, realizing that my heels are flat - they don't have the accentuated curve that some women's heels have that help to keep the shoe heel snug around the foot. Anyway, I bought my first pair of heel pads...we'll see if they work this weekend with my new pumps that go with my Hallowe'en costume...

Mood, Music & My Feet

As a dancer, music plays a significant role in my life. I am also constantly flowing from one mood to the next and my selection of music needs to match my current mood. I’m so sensitive to the mood-music match that I’ve had to create over 12 different Dance Playlists in my iTunes library to correspond to my various ‘dance moods’. For example, Disco/Funk Dance, Meditative Dance, Sensual Dance etc. I find that my mood influences my choice of music but it can also work the other way around where the music I’m playing can change my mood from, say, lazy to energized or from contemplative to silly.

Since I’ve launched my website I’ve been spending a lot more time working on my computer online - frankly, working on a computer is not something I love doing...I’d much rather be dancing : ) So when I sit down in the mornings to go online I start out with some tunes to get me in an upbeat or energized mood. I go through phases with my music but lately I’ve been playing The Black Keys, The Bright Light Social Hour (one of the hottest up and coming bands from Austin, TX), and David Gilmour (the guitarist/composer/singer from Pink Floyd).

Here are some specific music recommendations, corresponding moods that match them and links to sample the album/tracks (Note: I don't get paid to endorse these - just wanna share my faves with the world):

Do you really have a foot fetish?

Before you can answer this question you need to define the word “fetish”. The way you use or understand this term may not be consistent with some definitions and there is even variation among the definitions out there depending on where you look.

Here are a few definitions of “FETISH” from various sources I found online...

FETISH

a) An object of irrational reverence or obsessive devotion;

b) An object or bodily part whose real or fantasied presence is psychologically necessary for sexual gratification and that is an object of fixation to the extent that it may interfere with complete sexual expression.

FOOT FETISHISM (aka Podophilia)

A pronounced sexual interest in feet (or shoes), which is the most common sexual preference for otherwise non-sexual body parts. For a foot fetishist, points of attraction include the shape and size of the foot, toes, toenails, jewelry, treatments (e.g., pedicure), state of dress, odour, and sensory interaction

Ali the Sexpert, explains that Foot Fetish is also referred to as Foot Partialism, or the formal term for foot fetish which is Podophilia, because fetishes are usually a sexual focus on an inanimate object. Since the foot is a body part, it is more correct to call it Podophilia, however, it is most commonly known as Foot Fetishism.

Also, according to this Canadian researcher and teacher, modern evidence shows that “foot fetish” exists on a continuum and that it is much more common than people realize. Whether you love to buy shoes, or you think feet are sexy, foot fetishism has its place in modern sexuality and it seems to be much less atypical than originally thought.

Ali’s article reports that, “Foot Fetishism has been documented to be the most common form of sexual preference for non-sexual objects or body parts; however there has not been plenty of research on this fetish. Since it is considered to be taboo (despite its common occurrence), it is likely under-reported. It is also reported that men usually have foot fetishes, however, there is no information about the demographics of the men with this fetish, or any percentages of how many men have this fetish.”

I think that ultimately, public perception of the prevalence of foot fetish depends on how both the perceiver and the fetishist define ‘foot fetish’.

For example, if we were to use definition b) listed above, I think the prevalence of foot fetish would shrink. We might find a lot of people out there who would say they that they are turned on by feet, but I would guess that there are a lot less people within that same group who are unable to ‘get off’ without the presence (real or fantasied) of feet. There are a lot of people out there who get aroused by breasts; many would even admit a bit of an obsession with breasts but they are still able to achieve orgasm without the presence of them. How often do we hear the term “breast fetish” used?

The point I’m trying to make is that the word ‘fetish’ is associated with ‘non-traditional’ or ‘abnormal’ behaviors or objects of desire. But how abnormal or non-traditional is a foot fetish if it’s really as common as some believe it is?

So after reading this, would you consider yourself a Foot fetishist, Podophiliac, Foot Partialist or simply a Foot Lover?

If a study were to reveal that the majority of men are turned on by the female foot, would you find it easier to openly talk about your love of feet in public? Would you find it easier to ask your girlfriend/wife/lover for a foot job? Would you find it easier to approach a woman in a grocery store who had stunning feet and tell her what you think about her feet?
